Harvest Festival 2008

September 6 & 7, 2008

Each year, dozens of people businesses and organizations join the Sustainable Farming Association to host one of the region's most visionary events. The Lake Superior Harvest Festival showcases the agriculture of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, promoting local food production as a key component of a healthy community, economy and environment.

The Festival is a two day, family oriented outdoor event that attracts thousands of visitors to feast on locally produced food, to stock up at the farmer's market, to watch demonstrations by crafters and environmental innovators. The Festival has livestock exhibits, 4-H and other youth activities, live music, a community local foods picnic and something for everyone.

Directions to Bayfront Festival Park in downtown Duluth

 

From the south (Twin Cities area) · Take I-35 North, exit on 256B, 5th Avenue West. At the lights turn right on Harbor Drive.

From the northwest (Iron Range area) · Take Hwy 53, which becomes Central Entrance near the Miller Hill Mall. · Stay on Central Entrance when Hwy 53 turns south. · Turn right at the Mesaba Ave./Rice Lake Rd. stoplight, where Central Entrance becomes 6th Ave. East. · Take Mesaba Ave. to N. 1st Ave. E., turn left onto N. 1st Ave. E. · Take N. 1st Ave. E. to E. 8th St., turn right onto E. 8th St. · Take E. 8th St. to N. Lake Ave., turn left on N. Lake Ave. · Continue on Lake Ave. · Bear right on W. Commerce St.

From northeast Minnesota (North Shore area) · Take Highway 61 to London Road (Highway 61 turns into London Road as you enter Duluth). At 26th Ave. E., take I-35 South to exit 256B. · Keep right to 5th Ave. W. · At the 5th Ave. W./Harbor Drive lights, turn left.

Parking
Limited parking is available in the lot adjacent to the festival, although priority will be given to festival volunteers and vendors. There is parking available (for a nominal fee) in the Great Lakes Aquarium lot and the DECC lot. There is also lots of parking, most of it FREE (it's Saturday), in downtown Duluth (just take the skywalk to the DECC, or walk across the freeway overpass on 5th Avenue West) and in the Canal Park area.

People are encouraged to walk and bike to the Harvest Festival.
